By Wind is a renowned Nordic printing company celebrated for its meticulous focus on quality and unwavering commitment to sustainability. Their operations rely on renewable and recyclable resources, minimizing environmental impact while delivering outstanding printing services. By collaborating with like-minded clients and suppliers, By Wind drives sustainable growth across various industries. Since 1994, By Wind has invested in wind energy, and in 2018, it became the first printing company in Sweden to use origin-labeled electricity generated by its own wind turbines.

As a long-standing partner of By Wind, Lundgren+Lindqvist undertook the design and development of the brand’s website, building on the visual identity crafted by F&B Happy. They created and implemented a cohesive and dynamic design system that not only strengthened By Wind’s brand identity but also introduced a unique structure to the website. The design centers around a grid-based system, with left- and right-aligned geometric elements reflecting the structure of the logotype and emphasizing the concept of interconnected squares.

A key feature of the website is the inspiration archive, allowing visitors to navigate an extensive collection of reference projects for high-profile clients such as Acne Studios, Polestar, Byredo, and Unit Editions, using a detailed classification system. To address the growing need for knowledge about the printing process among clients, a glossary of print terms with comprehensive text and image explanations has also been added to the site.

Since the first website created for By Wind in 2010, the inspiration section has remained a cornerstone of the platform. While the website has undergone several redesigns and rebuilds, this library of inspiration has grown into a comprehensive archive of top-tier printed projects. The latest iteration of the website introduces the print glossary and enhances search functionality, enabling clients to easily find relevant projects while also exploring the archive for new ideas. In a landscape saturated with mockups, By Wind emphasizes the qualities of production, connecting visuals to printing techniques to guide clients in making better decisions for their print projects.

Lundgren+Lindqvist’s design reflects a deep understanding of By Wind’s needs, seamlessly balancing design aesthetics with technical functionality, and propelling By Wind’s brand to new heights.
