Mina
Mina is a new restaurant in the heart of Barcelona, a modern bistro offering Mediterranean cuisine with an Italian twist, alongside a wide selection of natural wines from around the world. It opened in 2024, founded by three Italian individuals with backgrounds in the restaurant industry and beyond. The restaurant features informal service in a chic, uniquely designed environment, catering to both local and tourist audiences.
The goal of Mina is to bring the soul of Italy to the city, one dish at a time. The restaurant’s branding features custom hand-drawn lettering and a hand-drawn eye symbol, both of which pay homage to the iconic Italian singer of the same name. While the logo plays an essential role in the branding, there’s much more to explore.
The entire identity is inspired by vintage film posters, for which over 100 hand-drawn illustrations were created by the designer. These illustrations make up a toolbox with interchangeable assets that form the basis of the brand’s visual identity. The hand-drawn and analog touch, which is a prominent feature throughout Mina’s visual style, was crucial in creating an atmosphere that feels familiar, welcoming, and spontaneous—key elements that were successfully achieved in this project.
